ALLOCATION TO MOYUA CONSTRUCTIONS OF THE CIVIL ENGINEERING WORK ON THE TABACALERA BUILDING IN DONOSTIA

The Administration Council of the CCIC Society-International Centre of Contemporary Culture, S.L.-, has allocated work to convert the old tobacco factory in Donostia-Sn.Sn. into an International Centre for Contemporary Culture, specialised in visual culture, for the amount of €15,701,571 + VAT.

The centre will have a large projection hall with 450 seats and another room with 115 folding seats, meaning it can be used  as a multifunctional space. Tabakalera  will also have spaces designated for production, exhibition and storage as well as  a large media library which will cover most of the first floor. On the second floor will be the headquarters of the Etxepare Institute and the Basque Film Library, with the hope that the International Film Festival in San Sebastian will become a consolidated event. The glazed prism which crowns the building will hold a panoramic restaurant and a public walk-way. A volume of new glass will be erected on the central body of the building to capture alternative energy (photovoltaic panels) reinforcing the symmetrical image of the building. This glazed prism which crowns the building will hold a panoramic restaurant and a public walk-way.

The Project deadline  is forseen for 72 weeks, consisting in demolition work of part of the current structure, underpinning of the existing cement and construction of the new structure
